The Bishop’s residence is the seat of the bishopric of Hradec Kralove region. In 1662 Matouš Ferdinand Sobek, the bishop of Hradec, bought three burgher‘s houses for the construction of the residence. The front side of the building was built in the years 1709-1710 from Marc Antonius Canevall’s blueprint, the rear part was built in 1714-16 from Giovanni Santini’s blueprint. The bishops have permanently taken residence since 1777. The Chapel of St. Charles Boromej, built in 1720-1730 is an significant part of the residence. [46]
