Burgher’s houses in the Old Town

are renaissance and baroque origin. The most beautiful is Špulák’s house, which was rebuilt using František Kramer’s designs in the year 1750. One of the house’s owners was Jan Špulák, who the house is named after. František Ulrich, one of the city’s most important mayors was born in this house in 1859. Today the house is being used as a wedding hall. Six Canonical houses can be found next to the cathedral, they form a row from the New Brewery to the Bishop’s Residence. The houses descriptive numbers are 47-52. They are built on the foundations of gothic houses, were reconstructed during the renaissance and the appearance they have today was done by Jan Santini in 1725 in Baroque style. [58]
