The historical foundations of the building originate from the year 1313 and were commissioned by Elizabeth Richeza of Poland. The cathedral contains many rarities including a pastoforium, a small chapel containing a wafer holder from the late 15th century, a gothic tin font dated 1406, a sandstone pulpit from 1869. The main altar from built in 1940 is decorated by an image from the hymn-book of Hradec Kralové. There are four bells in the towers of the cathedral: In the northern tower the bells are Leopold built in 1485 and Michal in 1480, in the southern tower the bells are Václav built in 1509 and Klement in 1510. [1, s. 19] John Žiža of Trocnov and the Chalice was temporarily buried in the cathedral in the year 1424. Visitation is possible during the church services. [58]
