Saint Nicolas

This tradition is intended primarily for children. During this tradition is possible to meet in small groups, people dressed as the three typical figures: St. Nicholas, Devil and Angel. This trio visit children in the night of 5th to 6th December. St. Nicholas and Angel distribute small gifts and treats to children, while the devil symbolically scares naughty children. Small children then sing traditional carols. From this tradition originated the figure of Santa Claus in the USA. [121, s. 70]
